Science and Math General Policies and Nuts and Bolts
1. Withdrawals
Students may initiate a withdrawal from the class by submitting a course withdrawal form with the required signatures to the Office of Admissions and Records in accordance with the following deadlines (the exact dates are announced each semester):
a. Approximately 6-7 weeks after school starts:Last day for withdrawal without instructor’s signature; a grade of W will be assigned. After this deadline, a grade of W or Y will be assigned.
b. A week or two before finals: Last day student initiated withdrawal accepted.
2. Class Periods/Missed Classes
~ You are responsible for conducting class for the full instructional period. Early class release, change of meeting place, or field trips must be reported to the division chair then Vice President via the necessary paperwork that can be obtained from Kathy Whitney.~ If you intend to miss a class you must notify Kathy Whitney at least a week in advance. We will arrange for a substitute and you will not be compensated for the time missed.
3. Enrollment
Only students who are officially enrolled in the course may attend. Do not allow friends or children to attend due to liability issues. ***Students adding your course will need your signature or the signature of the Chair.

5. Student Complaints
The procedure for grievances is per the Student Handbook p.57:
a. Instructor
The student must first discuss the issue with the course instructor.
b. Chair
The student may file a written complaint with the Division Chairperson and the Dean of Instruction. The Chair will attempt to resolve the problem after consulting with the instructor.
c. Dean
If the instructor and the chair fail to resolve the problem to the student's satisfaction, the Dean of Instruction must resolve the problem.
6. Grades (End of Semester)
a. Please leave a copy of your grades with Kathy Whitney at the end of the semester.
b. Posting - do not use any part of the student's social security number in posting.
7. Photocopying
~ All photocopying needs will be handled through the Adjunct Faculty Office. You must use the math code to obtain copies of any documents needed for instruction. You can obtain the code from Terri Propes in the Adjunct Faculty Office.
8. Supplies
All supplies needed for classroom instruction can be obtained from Terri Propes in the Adjunct Faculty Office.
9. Evaluations
a. All adjunct faculty are evaluated during their first three consecutive semesters of employment. Evaluations are done by the Chair, or by another residential faculty member during the 4th through 8th week of the semester.
b. In addition, student evaluations are conducted during each semester. The student evaluations will be returned to the instructor after the final grades have been recorded.
10. Parking Decal
To obtain Parking Decals, please fill out an application in the Security Office located outside Komatke Hall. This decal will allow for you to park in the Faculty/Staff reserved parking in the East Parking lot.
