Annette Wilson 2009 Applicant
Annette Wilson isn't afraid of getting started on her All-USA scholarship application too early. As soon as she heard of the opportunity with Phi Theta Kappa, she jumped on the chance to build up her academic resume.
Wilson stays very busy with activities on the college campus and in the community. She volunteers as a math and chemistry tutor at the NASA Center for Math & Science, was elected as President of EMCC's Beta Alpha Xi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, regularly attends highway clean-up opportunities, and much, much more. Her involvement will no doubt assist her with the All-USA scholarship application which requires involvement in campus and/or community volunteerism.
It is Wilson's dream to pursue a career as a community college instructor in science. If she is selected as one of the 2009 All-USA scholarship recipients, she will be awarded a full tuition waiver for her next two years at U of A or at any Arizona public university. "If I were to win the scholarship, it would create peace of mind for me because the financial burden (of obtaining a higher education) would be greatly reduced," she said. "I could focus even more on my studies and my continued community service work. I've been bitten by the service ‘bug' and know that I will be involved with my community for the rest of my life."
