Buckeye Land Purchase
Your 2004 Bond Dollars at Work
In Spring 2005, the Maricopa Community College Governing Board contracted with Arizona Land Advisors (ALA) to oversee the district’s purchase of new land in the West Valley.

Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC) is currently working with ALA to complete the purchase of approximately 100 acres in Buckeye, Arizona. The land purchase will serve as a future campus site and allow the college to meet the needs of a growing West Valley community.

Glendale Community College is also working with ALA to purchase land in the far N.W. Valley for future expansion.



Timeline:

November 2004
Voters pass Prop 401 - Maricopa Community Colleges $951M Bond Request
- $71M allocated for Estrella Mountain

February 2005
Maricopa Community Colleges Governing Board approves first round of bond sales - $190M in General Obligation Bonds
- $5M allocated for EMCC land purchase

February 2005
Maricopa Community College Governing Board contracted with Arizona Land Advisors (ALA) to oversee the district’s purchase of new land in the West Valley.

May 2005
Estrella Mountain and the Maricopa Community College District complete Educational Specifications for land purchase

June/July 2005
Land feasibility reviewed to determine potential sites.

  • Approximately 100 acres


  • Proximity to planned transportation     corridors, residential communities
    and commercial centers


  • Boundries include:
    El Mirage Road, Northern Avenue     alignment, the county line and
    the Sun Valley Parkway alignment


  • Located within 18 miles of EMCC


  • Purpose for Land:
    Development of educational
    facilities serving 20,000 to
    25,000 students.
