New Student Information System
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)

General, Operational, Student & Faculty Information at http://www.maricopa.edu/nss/faq.php

When will the new system be implemented?   The deployment of the new SIS Student Information System will be Tuesday, February 19, 2008.  College Implementation Team leads approved the new go-live date of February 19, 2008 as the best “window of opportunity” to work around critical financial aid and registration dates.

Where can I find more information about the Student Information System Project?   The project website continues to grow.  Please visit http://www.maricopa.edu/nss to find out the latest and greatest information.  Or, talk with your college CIT Manager.  The Student Information System Project's Frequently Asked Questions are viewable at http://www.maricopa.edu/nss/faq.php

How and when will college training be conducted for the new SIS?  College-identified trainers for each ‘module’ (Admissions & Campus Community, Financial Aid, Student Financials, Student Records, Academic Advising) will be trained to use the new SIS.  The college trainers will then conduct End User Training on their college sites.  Colleges are free to schedule End User training as dictated by college needs and scheduling demands.

Where are the instructions on how to find your Maricopa Enterprise ID?  Instructions are at      http://www.dist.maricopa.edu/training/pdf/EnterpriseID.pdf

What is FERPA and the FERPA tutorial?   Everyone who will access SIS (this now includes all Faculty members) is required to complete the FERPA (Family Education Rights and Privacy Act) tutorial so that we can provide the proper access to the system. This must be done, even if you have already completed it before. Read this FERPAFacSIS.pdf for more on the basics of FERPA as well as the instructions on how to do the Tutorial. The tutorial takes from 30 minutes to one hour to complete and it provides some great information that all educators need to know.

Where's the FERPA tutorial?  It's at  http://www.dist.maricopa.edu/legal/ferpa/

What is EASIS+?  EASIS stands for “Early Access SIS” and provides the college users an early version of what will ultimately become Maricopa’s SIS database.  The ‘+’ indicates that it includes Maricopa converted data.  Each release of EASIS+ is cumulative: it includes all previously released functionality and data, as well as new functionality and additional converted data.  We are currently on EASIS+ Version 4 and plan to have several more releases prior to final go-live. For more information see What is EASIS+ Q&A

How do I communicate my questions about the project or EASIS+? Use the feedback form located under "Comments or Questions?" on the new Student System website at http://www.maricopa.edu/nss/feedback.php.
