General Information

Located on the second floor of Estrella Hall, the Community Room offers flexible meeting space for a maximum of 180 people. This room has a sound wall that closes to divide the room into two parts. The larger side, called the North Community Room (NCR) has a maximum capacity of 100 people and the kitchen is attached to this space. The smaller room, called the South Community Room (SCR), has a maximum capacity of 60 people. These capacities are reduced by some special room setup options listed below. Each side has different audiovisual capabilities--please see the Audiovisual section below.

Normal setup in these rooms is in clusters. A cluster consists of two tables bumped together in a 48" square with one to eight upholstered chairs surrounding the cluster. Room setup variations are available at additional cost--see Room Setup Options below.  Setup variations may not be available for evening and Saturday events due to scheduling conflicts.

Other setup requirements can be met, at an additional fee of $30. Setup variations may not be available for evening and Saturday events due to scheduling conflicts. Please click on the link at right for cluster variations and other chair and table arrangements. Also note that the entire community room arranged in a special setup doubles fee.

Audiovisual Equipment for Rent

Audiovisual equipment available for rent varies by room, but includes a wide range of popular equipment including overhead or slide projectors, TV/VCR, computer with internet access, document camera, audio-conferencing equipment, and sound system. The NCR offers rental of a full-size computer with a in-wall rear projection screen (12'x9'). The SCR offers an automatic screen and does not have a sound system. However, in the SCR you won't need sound due to its size.

Podium, microphones, easels, and flip charts are included in the rental fee, but must be requested in advance.

Kitchen Available

A galley-style kitchen is available for use with your community room rental, regardless of which side of the room you rent. The kitchen is attached to the NCR, with direct access from that room, and exterior access for the SCR renter. It is equipped with an industrial size icemaker, regular size refrigerator/freezer, microwave, and sink for your convenience. You will need to bring all cooking, cleaning and serving supplies yourself--except for paper towels and trash cans, which are provided.

Although we have a list of caterers who have been at EMCC before and are familiar with our layout and policies, you are welcome to contract with any caterer you desire. We request you have them contact us for parking and access information.

Should you choose to prepare your own meals, or use takeout service, feel free to make full use the kitchen.
