Fall 2010
Book Charge & Financial Aid Disbursement Information
Book Charges:
Students who have been awarded may request to charge their textbooks against their anticipated financial aid (your award must be enough to cover all tuition and fees before you can request the balance to be used for books.) To make this request, go directly to the bookstore between 8/9/2010 and 8/31/2010 and present your EMCC Student Id.
Disbursements:
Per EMCC Policy, all financial aid disbursements are mailed via U.S. mail upon verification of enrollment status. NO EXCEPTIONS. For students who have been awarded and are expecting a financial aid disbursement if you have not received the disbursement by 9/22/2010, you may contact the Financial Aid Office. Students with late starting classes may have some (or all) of their grant and/or loan disbursements delayed past the dates above. Please plan accordingly.
Census Date:
Students who are awarded aid by the census date [Census date is 8/31/2010 for the Fall 2010 semester] cannot have their Pell grant increased for classes added after the census date for that term. This applies to adding classes at EMCC or turning in consortium agreements for classes taken at other colleges. In order to be eligible for Pell grant for the classes the student must be registered by the census date (this applies to late start classes as well) and if applicable the Financial Aid Office must have a completed consortium agreement by the census date. Students who apply for aid after the census date will have their Pell Grant award based on the number of credit hours they are enrolled in on the day their award is calculated.
Loans:
Students who are expecting a student loan must complete the Direct Loan Master Promissory Note (MPN) before the loan can be disbursed. See the Master Promissory Note page for instructions. Your first disbursement may be delayed beyond the date indicated above if you are enrolled in late starting classes or are a first time student at EMCC. All Loans are required to have two disbursements, this includes one semester loans.
Tuition Payment:
Students who have not been awarded may request an extension of their Tuition payment due date if the Financial Aid Office has received a valid, eligible FAFSA and all required supporting documentation/information by 7/1/2010 for the Fall 2010 semester.
Per EMCC policy, students who do not have a complete Financial Aid file (i.e., valid FAFSA, eligible program of study, HS Diploma/GED/ATB Test, and all other required documentation) prior to these dates are required to pay their tuition/ fees or sign up for the Student Tuition Payment Plan before their payment due date. NO EXCEPTIONS.
Consortium Agreements:
The STUDENT is required to pay the tuition with their own funds at the participating school. The parent school cannot put a hold on classes nor contact the participating school to inform them of anticipated aid. Financial aid must be awarded at the college where the student is attending more than 50 percent of their total credits for that term. Additionally, students requesting loans must be enrolled in at least six credit hours per term at the school awarding the aid.
