Degrees and Certificates
An explosion in the fitness industry, fueled by ever growing obesity rates and skyrocketing healthcare costs, has paved the way for a multitude of career opportunities for college educated specialists. To cater to this need, the Fitness and Wellness program at EMCC offers a variety of degrees and certificates for the future fitness professional.
Associates in Transfer Partnership (ATP) Degrees
These degrees are developed specifically for students who have identified a major in Exercise and Wellness or Kinesiology and plan on attending Arizona State University (ASU) in pursuit of a Bachelor’s Degree. The following transfer partnership degrees are for ASU Main and ASU East Campuses only.
ATP in Exercise & Wellness
The ATP in Exercise and Wellness is designed for students wishing to pursue a B.S. degree in Exercise and Wellness from ASU. Exercise and Wellness students study physical activity and other healthy lifestyles as they relate and contribute to good health and wellness. Areas of study include foundations of physical activity, nutrition, stress management, social/cultural issues, and factors involved in health behavior change. Career opportunities range broadly across several sectors of the fitness and wellness industry and health professions, including corporate health promotion/fitness, clinical/medical programs, community agencies and programs, and private health and fitness clubs.

ATP in Kinesiology
The ATP in Kinesiology will give students the foundational structure for a B.S. degree in Kinesiology from ASU. Students will study movement as it relates to physical activity, health and disease prevention, exercise and sport. Students will study disciplines such as anatomy, biomechanics, physiology, psychology and sociology as they relate to human movement and physical activity. Some typical job paths include: physical or occupational therapy, medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, cardiac rehabilitation, sports conditioning specialist, and exercise equipment manufacturing.
