Medical History and Informed Consent

All students registered for Fitness Center classes must have a completed Medical History and Informed Consent form on file before being allowed to use the Fitness Center or participate in any activity classes.         The Medical History will include a resting blood pressure measurement.   Some students may be required to submit a medical clearance form before beginning exercise.  This form will need to be signed by their attending physician prior to participating in the Fitness Center or other exercise programs.

Orientation

After completing the Medical History, all new students will be required to complete an orientation during their first visit to the Fitness Center.  The orientation covers information regarding the operation of the Fitness Center, student responsibilities, and equipment use.  Students are encouraged to ask questions.

  • Students taking the Fitness Center classes to earn college credit must participate in an orientation about grading policies and procedures every semester even if they are repeating the course.
  • Students taking the Fitness Center classes “just to work out” do not have to attend the orientation about grading.

Dress Code

A dress code has been established for your comfort and safety as well as the comfort and safety of those around you.   Please observe the following guidelines.  The determination of appropriate dress will be left to the discretion of the Fitness Center staff.    If your attire is determined to be unacceptable, you will be asked to change before exercising.

  • Shoes (Tennis, Jogging, Walking, Aerobic etc.) REQUIRED!
  • Shirts REQUIRED (No half shirts, torn shirts, sport bras, short shorts or mid-drift tops)
  • Athletic or Jogging shorts, sweats, warm-ups, or leotards
  • Absolutely no street clothing with buttons, zippers or belts

The intent of this dress code is to maintain as comfortable an atmosphere for everyone as possible.  We urge you to speak with the on-duty Fitness Instructor if you have any questions or concerns about this policy or what you or someone else is wearing for work out.
