STEP 1: Faculty Initiator
Faculty initiates a new curriculum
proposal and
contacts the
EMC Curriculum Development Facilitator (CDF) to
begin a proposal request.
STEP
2: Curriculum Development Facilitator (CDF)
The CDF coordinates with the
initiating faculty, appropriate division chair and VP's to collect data,
research, and write content for the curriculum request and drafts a
curriculum proposal.
Initiating
faculty should also contact their Division Chair if course fees
will be required for any new courses.
STEP 3: Curriculum Office
Once the CDF and Faculty
Initiator have completed a draft proposal, the CDF will forward the proposal to the
Curriculum Technician for further
processing. Curriculum proposals are due to the Curriculum
Office by the first Monday of each month to be processed for
that cycle (see
Curriculum Processing Calendar).
Once the proposal has been
received by the Curriculum Office, the Curriculum Technician will proof, edit, and format
the proposal per District Curriculum's guidelines. New
programs will be assigned a Major and CIPS code.
STEP 4: Instructional Council & CPD Approval
The Curriculum Technician sends
all proposals to appropriate Instructional Councils for required
approval (10 instructional days turn-around time). During this time, the
proposals will also be put on the CPD Blackboard site for online
voting by all CPD members (4 instructional days).
If the Instructional Council
and/or the CPD raise any concerns on the proposals, these
proposals will be brought to the CPD General Meeting for
discussion. If disapproved by either IC and/or CPD, then
the proposal will need to go back to the last step in which it
requires action. Approved proposals will move on to the
next step.
STEP 5:
District Curriculum
Office
Proposals that have been approved
by both CPD and the appropriate Instructional Council,
will be sent to the District Curriculum Office on the first
Thursday of each month (see
