Pharmacy Technician Test Preparation Program
This comprehensive 72 hour course will prepare students to enter the pharmacy field and to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board’s PTCB exam. Technicians work in hospitals, home infusion pharmacies, community pharmacies and other health care settings – working under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. Course content includes medical terminology specific to the pharmacy, reading and interpreting prescriptions and defining drugs by generic and brand names. Students will learn dosage calculations, I.V. flow rates, drug compounding, dose conversions, dispensing of prescriptions, inventory control and billing and reimbursement.

OSHA Excavation Safety Awareness Training
Recently there have been several fatalities rescues due to excavation trench collapse in Arizona. These types of accidents are preventable. Come to this free class and expand your knowledge of the OSHA Construction Standards for Excavations. Emphasis will be on the OSHA general requirements of excavations, duties of the designated competent person, soil classification and protective systems. Remember it is the employer’s responsibility to instruct each employee in the recognition and avoidance of unsafe conditions and in the regulations applicable to the work environment to control or eliminate any jobsite hazard.

OSHA Hazard Communication
In 1984, OSHA published the hazard communication standard which requires employers provide information and training to employees whose job duties involve the use of chemicals. This is information and training to employees whose job duties involve the use of chemicals. This is one of the most frequently violated of OSHA standards. Most employers in the nation have employees who use chemical products at work and therefore must comply with provisions of the law. This free class provides detailed information about the standard specifically addressing the employer’s duty to have a written hazard communication program, material safety data sheets, container labeling, and employee training to eliminate or otherwise control any hazard to employee health or safety when using chemicals in the workplace.

Estrella Mountain Community College offers the WorkKeys® Paraprofessional Testing required by NCLB guidelines for teacher’s assistants. Please call 623.935.8888 to register. Students may take all tests offered collectively or individually. Please bring a calculator for the Mathematics portion of the test.
