January 20, 2009 Estrella Mountain Community College News Briefs Non-credit course offered, financial aid event, and student photography on display Avondale, Arizona - January 20, 2009 - Non-Credit Course, "Good Vibrations," Offered; Begins Saturday, February 7, 2009 Estrella Mountain's Community Education Department is offering "Good Vibrations," a non-credit course open to community members who would like to learn about a variety of tools and techniques, including meditation, to bring balance into your work and home life. The one-day course will be offered on Saturday, February 7, 2009 from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at the college campus located at 3000 N. Dysart Rd. in Avondale. There is a $39 course fee. College Goal Sunday-Saturday Edition: Saturday, February 7, 2009 Estrella Mountain Community College will offer Arizona students help with accessing financial aid at the College Goal Sunday-Saturday Edition event, February 7, 2009. The event will be held in Estrella Hall from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Students and parents will have a chance to get all of their financial aid questions answered, learn how to apply for scholarships and receive help filling out their FAFSA forms. Financial aid representatives will be available to help students in both Spanish and English. Student Photography on Display; Now through February 28, 2009 Photography students at Estrella Mountain have displayed their work for the campus and community to enjoy now through February 28, 2009. The display features black/white portraits, landscapes, still lifes, abstracts, architectural, and nature studies. Most are done by first semester students with a few contributions from second-semester students. The students have studied both digital and film cameras to learn to choose what best fits their working style and vision. Estrella Mountain is expanding its Visual Arts display area and this show will be the first of what is to become a permanent "Student Art Showcase," with rotating shows of painting, drawing, photography, and collage throughout the year. The show can be viewed Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. until February 28, 2009 in the art cases located on the west side of Komatke Hall B.
