CTL Re-visioning Project

The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) Re-visioning Project is now complete. As a result of the findings, a new charge has been given to the CTL Advisory Committee by Senior Administration.

  1. Expand the CTL Advisory Committee to include all employee groups.  All current divisional faculty representatives will remain on the committee (i.e. faculty will not lose representatives).
  2. Establish the core components of a professional development curriculum for all EMCC employees. The core components will serve as the foundation for defining the CTL structure, leadership, and staffing needs.

The next step is to identify one representative to serve on the CTL Advisory Council from each of the following employee groups: Adjunct Faculty, Southwest Skill Center, MAT, PSA, Public Safety, and M&O.

The CTL Advisory Committee meets on the first Tuesday of the month from 2:00-3:30 p.m. in the CTL. Dates for the spring 2011 semester are as follows 2/1, 3/1, 4/5, and 5/3.  Please note that because of the new scope of the work, additional work sessions may be required.

Please contact your employee group representative if you are interested in serving on the CTL Advisory Committee. Employee groups need to submit the name of their representative to Polly Miller no later than Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at 5:00 p.m.

New Schedule Format

Starting fall 2011, Estrella Mountain will implement a new schedule format. The new format will allow the college to be consistent in its scheduling process, increase opportunities for a wider variety of class formats, and reduce potential scheduling conflicts for students. The new schedule format will consist of the following elements:

  • The official start time for classes is 7:00 a.m.
  • Status quo until noon – five day traditional schedule
  • All classes starting after 12:00 p.m. convert to a four day schedule (MW, TR, 75 minutes)
  • Science, Nursing and Labs remain unchanged
  • Hybrid and five - eight week guaranteed classes remain unchanged
