Spanish Medical Interpreter
SouthWest Skill Center (SWSC) program at EMCC
If you have an interest in the health and medical industry, and are proficient with both English & Spanish, you would be a good candidate for the Spanish Medical Interpreter program. Bilingual individuals who would like to interpret or pursue a career in a healthcare setting can gain skills necessary to interpret in a manner consistent with national standards of practice for interpreters in health care.
Interpreting is a value-added skill that enhances bilingual healthcare communication. According to the National Council on Interpreting in Health Care, an interpreter renders a message orally into another language while abiding by a professional code of ethics.
To promote successful program completion, students are strongly encouraged to take a medical terminology course prior to enrolling into the Spanish Medical Interpreter program. Graduates of the program will receive a Certificate of Complete (CCL).
Convenient for your busy schedule, this program may be completed in approximately 24 weeks.
Employment and Wages vary from state to state, so for your convenience, we provide a direct link to the Bureau of Labor Statistics for Interpreters and Translators below:
