Once you have registered
for a Red Hat Linux class at Estrella Mountain, you will need to create an
Academy login name and password
STEP 1
You will need to go to Red Hat's Web site
and create a "Red Hat Network" (RHN) account. Take some time to choose a
username that will be easy for you to remember. We suggest using your first
initial of your first name, and last name followed by emrha (Estrella Mountain
Red Hat Academy). Example:
Give Name: Randy Larson
Username to create: rlarson-emrha
Password: Create a password that it is
easy to remember (Don't loose your password.)
(NOTE: By inserting the -emrha
following your name (In my example rlarson), it will increase your
chances of selecting a username that has not already been reserved by another
student.)
(TIP: If you receive an error that the
username is already taken, try adding your middle initial after your first
initial.
Example: rllarson-emrha. By selecting a username that contains
your last name, it will be easier to remember, and make Academy administration
easier.)
Now go the RHN creation site.
(NOTE: A
"new window" will open by clicking on the link below; when you are finished
creating your RHN login name, you may exit that page and return here.)
Go to RHN login creation now.
STEP 2
Our Red Hat Academy Administrator must
create a local Academy account for you. Please note: Your login will not be
created until you are registered for a course at Estrella Mountain Community
College. Examples of these courses are: CIS126DL, CIS238DL, CIS239DL,
CIS240DL, and CIS271DL. You may create a RHN account in advance; however, you
will not be granted an Academy login until you are registered in one of the
above classes.
Next provide the Estrella Mountain
Community College Red Hat Academy with the following information. You will be
notified by e-mail when your account is created. Please allow 1-2 days for
processing.
NOTE: Your Academy Account
will not be created unless you are fully registered for the class. All
students are verified in SIS (Student Information Services) before RHA
accounts are created.
