- Pacific Islander Awareness and International Students Club Scholarship
In our efforts to
promote cultural awareness and diversity of society, as a club, we have created
a scholarship focusing on how culture has affected us today. We hope that this
opportunity will both serve the community and the individual as we strive to
promote who we are and the role our backgrounds play in our future.
The purpose of this scholarship is to develop understanding and pride in
cultures, and acknowledgement of their individual influences on society.

The Greenwood Grant
The Greenwood Grant is a small supplemental assistance grant for all eligible college students throughout the states of California, Oregon, Utah, Idaho and Arizona. This private grant is specifically oriented to assist the challenged college student with expenses up to $800 per academic year. The grant is available for the student who both needs financial assistance and just doesn’t have the time to compete academically and find supplemental employment. Although the grant is relatively small,it does not require extensive essays, evidence of extracurricular activities or exceptional academic merit. |

National Science Foundation - STEP Application
Each scholarship recipient will receive a one-year award of $500 (Pre-STEM) or $1000 (STEM) to be distributed equally over two semesters. The amount of the award is dependent upon your math course enrollment.

Win up to $5,000 for College As members of Brazos -- a related group of not-for-profit organizations dedicated to helping students achieve their educational dreams -- AFC and EFSI are proud to award $50,000 in scholarships to help students finance their first-year of college expenses. Research
Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) in Electrical & Computer Engineering at the
University of Kentucky
The Electrical & Computer Engineering (ECE) Department at
the University of Kentucky is pleased to offer 12 undergraduate students an
active 8-week summer research experience. Several projects are available in
a wide range of areas within Electrical & Computer Engineering. Students
will be exposed to faculty, graduate students, research staff, and other
undergraduate students in a developing community that incorporates research
activities with field trips, workshops, and other social activities. The
program objectives are as follows:
- Improve student understanding of the nature of research practice and
scientific reasoning
- Provide students with a collegial partnership experience with faculty,
peers, and research staff
- Increase student appreciation of the importance of coursework to the
understanding of engineering research
- Improve oral and written comprehension and communication of technical
knowledge
- Expose students to research instrumentation, measurement techniques,
documentation, and laboratory management
- Encourage greater interest in graduate school and research careers
The ECE Department offers B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical
Engineering and a new B.S. degree in Computer Engineering. We have
approximately 300 undergraduate students and about 110 graduate students;
over 25 faculty members who are engaged in training the minds of some of the
best and the brightest in Kentucky and beyond, and performing nationally
recognized, cutting edge research in nanoelectronics and microelectronics,
optoelectronics, laser micro-machining, solar cells, supercomputing and
video walls, computer architecture, analysis and design of very large scale
integration (VLSI) chips, signal and image processing, control and
manufacturing, electromagnetics, power systems and biomedical systems. |

The Minority Educational Institution Student Partnership Program seeks students pursuing degrees in a variety of academic majors, including, but not limited to:

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Public Service Leaders Scholarship Program provides combined scholarship and internship opportunities to undergraduate and graduate students leading to permanent employment upon completion of their degree.The program is designed to promote public service and create access to higher education. The program offers:
- Full-tuition scholarships
- Paid internship (minimum 640 hours) leading to permanent employment
- Employee benefits such as:
- Mentoring
- Career development
- Leadership training
- Use of a personal computer
Recipients of a Public Service Leaders Scholarship enter into an agreement with the USDA to receive full-tuition scholarships for two or three years. In addition, recipients intern at the USDA for a minimum of 640 hours prior to graduation. The internships are paid in addition to the scholarship funds. Students may be required to work during the upcoming summer. Recipients are required to work for the USDA for one year for every year of sponsorship upon graduation. Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internships
This program places students in paid internships in Science and Engineering at any of several Department of Energy facilities. Many of the participants in the program have decided on a career in science and engineering because of the nature of the experience. Students work with scientists or engineers on projects related to the laboratories' research programs. The different laboratories each offer different research opportunities (see Choosing a Lab).
The summer programs at the various laboratories will run from late May to mid-August, fall programs run from August through December and spring programs from January through May. The exact start date will depend on the laboratory and will be given to participants who have been accepted at that specific laboratory. Students are required to participate for the full term of the program. |

United States Departments of Energy Student Parnership Program
The 2008 Minority Educational Institution Student Partnership Program offers talented undergraduate and graduate students summer internship positions with the U.S. Department of Energy and its national laboratories. Positions involve scientific research or a focus on policy, business, and government relations. All internships include paid lodging, round trip airfare, and monetary compensation.
As Program participants, students receive an intensive 8-week assignment to "jump-start" their careers and develop their potential for future opportunities within the federal government. Students work side-by-side with leading scientists, engineers, and other top professionals to develop professional skills and enhance leadership capabilities.

This program places students from community colleges in paid internships in Science and Engineering and Technology at any of several different locations (see Choosing a Lab). Because of the comprehensive nature of this program many of the participants have felt it has had an enormous influence on their careers. Students work with scientists or engineers on projects related to the laboratories' research programs. They also attend career planning and numerous training/informational sessions. The different laboratories each offer different research opportunities (see Choosing a Lab).
