The Greenwood Grant

The Greenwood Grant is a small supplemental assistance grant for all eligible college students throughout the states of California, Oregon, Utah, Idaho and Arizona. This private grant is specifically oriented to assist the challenged college student with expenses up to $800 per academic year. The grant is available for the student who both needs financial assistance and just doesn’t have the time to compete academically and find supplemental employment. Although the grant is relatively small,it does not require extensive essays, evidence of extracurricular activities or exceptional academic merit.

 
     
 

The Arizona Business and Professional Women's Foundation

The Hispanic College Fund Scholarship Programs  

Eligibility Requirements –
  Students must…

  • be Hispanic
  • maintain a 3.0 Grade Point Average (on a 4.0 scale)
  • be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • reside in the U.S. or Puerto Rico
  • be a current or rising undergraduate (some programs accept grad. students) student or a high school senior enrolling at a college or university in the U.S. or Puerto Rico

National Science Foundation - STEP Application

Each scholarship recipient will receive a one-year award of $500 (Pre-STEM) or $1000 (STEM) to be distributed equally over two semesters.  The amount of the award is dependent upon your math course enrollment.

How do I qualify for the STEP?

In order for a student to qualify for a scholarship award you must satisfy the following criteria:

 Nina Mason Pulliam Legacy Scholars

Available to individuals meeting at least one of the following criteria:

  • Incoming freshman or continuing students ages 18-25, raised through the child welfare system and having no form of financial support (A person who has experienced time in the child welfare system may have lived in an institution such as group home, child protection agency, special facility for children, and/or with a foster family).
  • College age youths and adults with physical disabilities
  • Adults 25 years of age or older who have dependents in their household

What Are the Criteria?

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Be working toward their first college degree
  • Be a U.S. citizen and a resident of Arizona
  • Have a family income no higher than 80% (approx. $41,250) of the median income for Maricopa County
  • Have no more than 24 college-level, degree-applicable credits

AAA Arizona’s Si Se Puede Hispanic Scholarship

  • Be of Hispanic heritage
  • Be graduating from an Arizona high school in 2008
  • Be an Arizona Resident
  • Enrolled FULL-TIME in a degree seeking program at an Arizona accredited university or community college.
  • Must apply for federal financial aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  • Submit a two-page essay describing one or two unique accomplishment(s) that you are particularly proud of and how that makes you unique?
  •  3.0 High School GPA (Grade Point Average)
  • Complete the school’s own “General Scholarship Application”
  • Preference will be given to students with a clean driving record

American Dream Scholarship Program

Established in partnership with the United Negro College Fund, the American Dream Scholarship Program is open to African Americans with financial need. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, with a minimum 2.5 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale), who meet Pell Grant eligibility criteria, and are enrolled full time at approved, accredited, undergraduate institutions. Scholarships range from $500 to $5,000.

First in My Family Scholarship Program

The First in My Family Scholarship Program, developed in partnership with the Hispanic College Fund, offers scholarships to Hispanic-American students who are the first in their family to attend college and have financial need. The program is open to Hispanic Americans who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents enrolled as full time undergraduate students at approved, accredited institutions. Students must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale). Scholarships range from $500 to $5,000.

RICH WADE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP YEAR-2008

  • Prior Active-Duty Veteran with an honorable discharge (Chap. 30, 32 and 1607 benefits)
  • Arizona Guard or Reserve Member  (On Active Status contract)

  • Veteran Residing and attending Arizona school
  • 2.5 GPA
  • Must be seeking a degree or certificate
  • Must attend a school approved for veterans’ benefits in 2008.

Programs National Scholarship Program
  • The applicant’s college must be a NACCTEP member community college. Please refer to www.nacctep.org for a list of members or contact NACCTEP at 480-731-8760.    
  • The undergraduate applicant must:
  • be a U.S. citizen or eligible U.S. permanent resident;
  • be in good academic standing, with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 (based on a 4.0 scale);
  • be enrolled in and maintain a minimum of six semester credits or nine quarter credits at a NACCTEP member community college during each semester of the 2008-2009 year; and
  •  have earned a minimum of 24 semester credits or 36 quarter credits by the end of the Spring 2008 semester (for alternative certification/post-baccalaureate program students, credits may be from Bachelor’s degree program course of study)

Unmet Need Scholarship

The Unmet Need Scholarship program is open to U.S. citizens and permanent residents who are accepted or enrolled as full-time undergraduate students at approved, accredited institutions. Students must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) to be eligible to apply. Recipients will be selected based on financial need. Unmet Need Scholarships range from $1,000 to $3,800.

American Muslim Women's Association

These scholarships, which are offered in any field of study, have been established to recognize the academic achievements of full time female undergraduate students at Maricopa Community Colleges and ASU.  All eligible female students are encouraged to apply irrespective of their nationality, ethnic, or religious background. Scholarships are for $ 500 each per semester.

Win up to $5,000 for College
As members of Brazos -- a related group of not-for-profit organizations dedicated to helping students achieve their educational dreams -- AFC and EFSI are proud to award $50,000 in scholarships to help students finance their first-year of college expenses. The sweepstakes will award two (2) $5,000 scholarships and sixteen (16) $2,500 scholarships to first-year students who will be enrolled in an accredited college or trade school for the fall 2007 semester.

Entries will be accepted from 12/1/06 through 5/31/07. Winners will be selected by random drawing on or about 6/11/07. Scholarship proceeds will be sent directly to the school of attendance to be credited to the student’s account.

The Minority Educational Institution Student Partnership Program

The Minority Educational Institution Student Partnership Program seeks students pursuing degrees in a variety of academic majors, including, but not limited to:

Engineering — Biomedical, Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, Environmental, Industrial, Material, Mechanical, Metallurgical, Nuclear, and Petroleum.

Sciences — Biological, Computer, Information Technology, Geology, Math, Microbiology, and Physics.

Social Sciences — Economics, Organizational Psychology, Political Science, Policy, Public Administration, International Relations, National Security and Sociology.

Business — Accounting, Finance, Management, and Business Administration

   The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Public Service Leaders Scholarship Program provides combined scholarship and internship opportunities to undergraduate and graduate students leading to permanent employment upon completion of their degree.The program is designed to promote public service and create access to higher education.  The program offers:
  • Full-tuition scholarships
  • Paid internship (minimum 640 hours) leading to permanent employment
  • Employee benefits such as:
  • Mentoring
  • Career development
  • Leadership training
  • Use of a personal computer
Recipients of a Public Service Leaders Scholarship enter into an agreement with the USDA to receive full-tuition scholarships for two or three years. In addition, recipients intern at the USDA for a minimum of 640 hours prior to graduation. The internships are paid in addition to the scholarship funds. Students may be required to work during the upcoming summer.  Recipients are required to work for the USDA for one year for every year of sponsorship upon graduation. Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internships

This program places students in paid internships in Science and Engineering at any of several Department of Energy facilities. Many of the participants in the program have decided on a career in science and engineering because of the nature of the experience. Students work with scientists or engineers on projects related to the laboratories' research programs. The different laboratories each offer different research opportunities (see Choosing a Lab).

The summer programs at the various laboratories will run from late May to mid-August, fall programs run from August through December and spring programs from January through May. The exact start date will depend on the laboratory and will be given to participants who have been accepted at that specific laboratory. Students are required to participate for the full term of the program.

 
     
  United States Departments of Energy Student Parnership Program

The 2008 Minority Educational Institution Student Partnership Program offers talented undergraduate and graduate students summer internship positions with the U.S. Department of Energy and its national laboratories. Positions involve scientific research or a focus on policy, business, and government relations. All internships include paid lodging, round trip airfare, and monetary compensation.

As Program participants, students receive an intensive 8-week assignment to "jump-start" their careers and develop their potential for future opportunities within the federal government. Students work side-by-side with leading scientists, engineers, and other top professionals to develop professional skills and enhance leadership capabilities.

 
     
  Office of Science Community College Institute 

This program places students from community colleges in paid internships in Science and Engineering and Technology at any of several different locations (see Choosing a Lab). Because of the comprehensive nature of this program many of the participants have felt it has had an enormous influence on their careers. Students work with scientists or engineers on projects related to the laboratories' research programs. They also attend career planning and numerous training/informational sessions. The different laboratories each offer different research opportunities (see Choosing a Lab).

The CCI only runs during the summer term.
