WELCOME ARLISA RICHARDSON TO SERVICE LEARNING!!!!

Arlisa Labrie Richardson is the Coordinator of Instructional Services in the NASA Center for Success in Math & Science at Estrella Mountain Community College. She is currently working on a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Science Education at Arizona State University. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Physics from Grambling State University, Masters of Science in Physics from the University of Texas at Dallas and a Masters of Science in Engineering of Materials from Arizona State University.
Her research interest includes issues of equity in science, engineering and technology education, which stems from her personal academic and professional experience as a female student and engineer. Before returning to graduate school to pursue a Docorate degree, she worked as an engineer in the semiconductor manufacturing industry for ten years.
Arlisa’s teaching experience includes teaching as an adjunct physics instructor at Richland Community College in Dallas, TX. As a graduate student at ASU, she had a wide range of work experience in the academic setting. In the Materials Science Engineering department, she served as a teaching and research assistant in addition to participating in the Gk-12 program as a fellowship recipient. As a Gk-12 fellow, Arlisa worked with a high school science teacher to incorporate her materials science research in the high school physics and chemistry curriculum. In the College of Education she served as adjunct faculty, teaching science methods courses to pre-service and in-service teachers. For two years she served as one of the coordinators of the Preparing Future Faculty (PFF) program. This program is designed to prepare Doctoral students interested in collegiate faculty careers.
In her current position as Coordinator of Instructional Services in the NASA Center for Success in Math & Science she utilizes her academic training and extensive professional experience to work with students, faculty, staff and professional engineers to assist students with transfer from the Community College to four-year institutions and obtaining summer research and internship positions in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics fields.
