Men's Cross Country Coach

Shayna Weir comes to Estrella Mountain Community College after serving as Assistant Coach for Men's and Women's cross country team at Estrella Mountain Community College during the 2012-2013 season.

Prior to joining the Estella Mountain Community College athletics staff, Weir served as Head Coach for boys and girl's running club at Sheely Farms Elementary School from 2010 to 2012, and was the head coach for track and field at Sierra Linda High School in 2010. Weir is currently part of the Brooks ID program, which promotes daily inspiration through running. 

Weir’s passion for running is embedded in her personal running experiences, which include completing seven marathons.  She is a three time Boston Qualifier, and ran and completed in the 2013 Boston Marathon. Weir is also competitive in local road races, competing in races of various distances including 5ks, 10ks, half marathons, and marathons.

A 2009 graduate of Gannon University, Weir has a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy and has been working as a school-based occupational therapist in the Phoenix area for the past five years.  Weir ran cross-country for Gannon University, a Division II college in Erie, PA. She was the top female runner and served as captain for the women’s team for two years. She received academic All American while competing there. Weir also competed for James Buchanan High School for three years of track and field and cross-country. She was a three time Pennsylvania state qualifier and school record holder for the home cross-country course, the 4 x800 relay, and the 4x 400 relay.
