Coach's Biography
Prior to joining the Estrella Mountain Community College golf program, Jeff Eccles served as head varsity boy’s golf coach at Westview High School for 14 years. There he guided the Knights to four region titles, seven top 10 state finishes, and one top five finish. He has coached one state champion and three region champions. Eccles has helped direct and motivate over 10 of his players to the Division I, NAIA, and Junior College golf ranks in his career.
Coach Eccles was named region coach of the year in 1999, 2000, 2004 and 2005. In addition to coaching golf, he was the head varsity girl’s basketball coach from 1991 to 2005. Eccles coached four region champion teams and competed in the state playoffs nine out of his 14 years at the helm. Some of Eccles' former athletes have competed in Division I, Division II and Junior College sports. He has one athlete who went on to the professional ranks in women’s basketball. Coach Eccles also had coaching stints in Varsity Football (Westview High 1990-1995; Arcadia High 1985-1988) and Varsity Track and Field (Saguaro High 1981; Coronado 1983; Arcadia High 1984-1988).
Coach Eccles has coached numerous national, state, region, and district champions in four major disciplines over his 29 years of teaching and mentoring athletes in the state of Arizona. Eccles is entering his 20th year at Westview as a history teacher. Coach Eccles has a Bachelor of Arts in History from Arizona State University and a Masters in Education from Grand Canyon University. He has a lovely wife and three beautiful daughters.
