Eligibility Criteria

Students who meet all the following criteria may be considered for membership in Beta Alpha Xi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society:

  • Currently enrolled at Estrella Mountain Community College,

  • Received an invitation to membership from the Office of the Estrella Mountain Community College President,
  • Are free from campus or legal disciplinary action, and
  • Paid a one-time, required membership fee of $85*.

Both part-time and full-time students who have met all of the Eligibility Criteria are invited to become members. E-mailed letters of invitation come from the Office of the College President, Dr. Ernie Lara, through student official g-mail accounts. For spring 2012, invitations should arrive around February 13.

*Please note that the required one-time Phi Theta Kappa membership fee has increased to $85 from $75 effective January 2012. This fee has increased for the first time in seven (7) years to cover increasing costs of Phi Theta Kappa membership services and programs. Students who need assistance paying the membership fee are encouraged to contact the Chapter Advisor about the Extended Payment Option as early as possible during membership campaigns. Later inquiries about financial assistance limit options.
