Induction Ceremony for New Spring 2012 Phi Theta Kappa Members
The Spring 2012 Induction Ceremony for New Members is set for Friday, April 20, from 6:30-8:00 pm in the second floor Community Rooms of Estrella Hall. During the ceremony, new members will take the oath of membership in Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, which automatically carries with it membership in Estrella Mountain Community College's Beta Alpha Xi Chapter. New members will be individually recognized for their academic achievement and welcomed into the Society by senior college administrators, the Beta Alpha Xi Chapter President, and other honored guests.
Attendance is not mandatory for new members. Participation is strictly voluntary, but those new members who participate enjoy the opportunity to celebrate their acceptance into this prestigious honor society. Family and friends are welcome to witness the induction ceremony and celebrate along with new student members. A balcony reception follows immediately after the ceremony for members and guests.
The Induction Ceremony follows the schedule below:
5:45-6:15 pm
New Phi Theta Kappa members to be inducted arrive at the Community Rooms for check-in and will be directed to a private area for a brief rehearsal of the evening’s program.
Guests may take their seats in the Community Rooms or step outside for fresh air until the ceremony begins. Guests should take their seats no later than 6:20 pm.
6:30-7:30 pm
Ceremony begins with processional of new members lead by Chapter Advisor and ceremony honored guests. New members will take the oath of Society membership and be recognized individually. Phi Theta Kappa mentors nominated by Fall 2012 new members will also be recognized. A recessional of newly-inducted members, honored guests, and chapter officers concludes the ceremony.
7:30-8:15 pm
Adjourn to Balcony Reception for light refreshments and fellowship. Evening ends at 8:30 pm.
Dress is business casual with new members wearing clothing suitable for the occasion, similar to what might wear to church or working in a professional setting. No spaghetti straps, torn/tattered clothing, or flip-flops please.

Please email ptk@estrellamountain.edu and tell us if you will attend the April 20 ceremony – ‘Yes’ or ‘No’. If ‘Yes’, please also indicate the number of guests you plan to bring. To assure that we have enough seats for all guests, please limit your guest list to no more than 4-5. Be kind enough to tell us your plans no later than Tuesday, April 17, so we can comfortably accommodate you and your guests.
