Phi Theta Kappa Transfer Scholarship

Award Amount:

  1. *Arizona Residents: $5,000 per academic year + one-time iPad
  2. *Non-Residents: $10,000 per academic year

Availability: Two consecutive years (4 semesters total) for fall and spring semesters only; based on academic year renewal requirements.

Application: A completed UA Admission Application for Fall 2012 serves as the application for this award.

Deadline: Admitted by March 1, 2012.

Selection:

The Phi Theta Kappa Award is a highly competitive tuition scholarship offered to the very top Community College Transfer students pursuing their first bachelor's degree who have been a verified Phi Theta Kappa member in good standing for at least one year by the time of submission of the UA admission application. Offers will be based on funds available and the strength of the applicant pool. Other minimum requirements for consideration include the following, but they do not guarantee an offer:

  1. Have a minimum 3.50 recalculated cumulative college grade point average.
  2. Completed a minimum of 36 units at the time of UA admission application.
  3. Member in good standing with Phi Theta Kappa for at least one year by the time of submission of UA admission application.

Eligibility:

  1.  
    1. Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
    2. Be classified as an *Arizona resident for tuition purposes ($5,000).
    3. Be classified as a *non-Arizona resident for tuition purposes ($10,000).
    4. Must verify your lawful presence as described under Arizona's Proposition 300.
      Semesters without lawful presence verified will be lost and counted against the scholarship's total eight semesters.
    5. Complete 30 UA units per academic year.

Renewal Criteria:

  1. GPA: 3.00 cumulative University of Arizona (UA) grade point average by conclusion of the academic year.
    Academic year begins in Fall and ends at the close of Summer II.
  2. Units: 30 completed UA units each academic year. Qualified units within the academic year include: UA winter and summer courses, passing units from pass/fail courses, and Grade Replacement Opportunity (GRO) units. Non-Qualifying units include: failed, E grade, incompletes, prior academic years, New Start, consortium, correspondence, audit, transfer units and units from other institutions.
  3. Students not meeting renewal criteria see Reinstatement section below.

Multiple Awards and Tuition Programs:

  1. This award cannot be combined with the All-Arizona Academic Team Tuition Award, the Transfer Academic Achievement Award, or the Regent's High Honors Endorsement Award (AIMS).
  2. The Non-Resident Phi Theta Kappa award cannot be combined with an iPad.
  3. This award will be reduced if the Qualified Tuition Reduction (QTR, a benefit for faculty and staff) or other tuition reduction programs (or waivers) are utilized. Students offered multiple tuition awards cannot receive more than 100% of the cost of tuition.
  4. This award cannot be combined with some ROTC tuition awards and some departmental tuition awards depending on type an amount.
  5. Students in the Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) program are not eligible for this award.
