SWSC - Financial Aid Resources - How to Apply

Frequently Asked Questions

1. When should I apply for Financial Aid?
As soon as possible, FA takes approximately 4 - 6 weeks to process.

2. Will FA cover my investment fees?
No, the investment fee is an out of pocket expense that must be paid prior to registration.

3. Will my FA be paid directly to me?
No, Federal grants are earned and paid per clock hour attendance and are credited to student SWSC accounts monthly. Loans are disbursed to the school in two payments; one after approximately the 30th day of attendance and the second after you have completed approximately half of the scheduled clock hours for the entire program. Once all program charges have been billed, if there is a remaining credit, Enrollment Services will send a check (via U.S. Mail) to the student in accordance with Federal Regulations.

4. If I am placed on suspension what happens to my FA?
Your FA is suspended and you are changed to a "buy in" status. A petition may be submitted to the FA office for review by the Financial Aid Appeals Committee. Petition can be found under FORMS section

5. Can I change my program or hours from day to evening?
The school policy states a student can request one change during their program of study and it will be reviewed for consideration. However, students are strongly discouraged from requesting changes as only extreme cases with supporting documentation will be considered. Changes in program will affect your FA.
