Veterans Benefits
South West Skill Center certifies Veterans for the following programs:
- Montgomery GI Bill (Chapter 30 and Chapter 34)
- Montgomery GI Bill-Selective Reserve (Chapter 1606)
- Reserve Education Asst. Program (Chapter 1607)
- Veterans Educational Assistance Program (VEAP) (Chapter 32)
- Survivors and Dependents Educational Assistance Program (Chapter 35)
- Veteran's Vocational Rehabilitation (Chapter 31)
Enrollment Certification Request
You must complete an Enrollment Certification Request for the program for which you are requesting benefits. To avoid a delay in receiving pay, requests should be submitted at least 30 days prior to the start of your program.
Processing
- Your enrollment will be certified up front for your entire program (based upon the start and end date and scheduled weekly hours). You must attend a minimum of 90% of the monthly scheduled hours (your attendance will be monitored monthly). To avoid changes to your benefits you must adhere to the 90% attendance requirement.
- The first month your attendance falls below 90%, you will be placed on Probation (your benefits will continue as originally certified). If you bring your attendance back up to the minimum 90% requirement, you will be cleared. If not, you will remain on Probation (your benefits will continue as originally certified). If your attendance is not brought up to the minimum 90% by the third month, you will be suspended and your VA benefits will be stopped.
- If this occurs, you may appeal your suspension directly with the VA. You are required to certify your enrollment monthly with VA.
- Normal processing time for the Veterans Administration is eight to ten weeks from the date you complete your Enrollment Certification Request at the Veterans Services Office.
Level of Enrollment - for VA funding purposes only
- Full-time is 22 hours or more per week
- Three quarter time is 16.5 - 21.5 per week
- Half-time is11 - 16 hours per week

Change of Place or Program Form
This form needs to be completed if you are changing PARENT schools for VA Benefits, or if you are changing you declared PROGRAM of STUDY with the veteran's office.
