GED Candidates, Please Read!
You have 18 months from the date you register to begin taking your GED tests.
If you do not take a test within that time, you may have to REGISTER and PAY again!

Grad Cap

To Begin Testing:

If you are 18 years of age or older, you will need two forms of identification:

  1. A current state-issued I.D. with photo and one other form of acceptable I.D. (See list below)
  2. Must not be attending high school or be currently home schooled

If you are 16 or 17 years of age, you will need three forms of identification:

  1. A current state-issued I.D. with photo
  2. Birth Certificate
  3. And any one of the acceptable documents listed below

If you are 16 or 17 years of age, you will also need:

  1. A notarized letter from parent or guardian giving permission to test
  2. Formal withdraw from last school of attendance (If home schooled please see GED examiner)
     

GENERAL INFORMATION

  1. You must be 16 years of age or older
  2. For applicants who have started before January 1, 2002, the test has expired.
  3. Printed transcripts are available after first test is taken using a secure access code
    at the following website:   https://www.nrspro.com/NRS/Web/GED123/Default.aspx
  4. If appropriate, the state office will mail you a GED diploma that will arrive in
    approximately in 2 to 3 weeks 
  5. Passing scores require a total of 2250
             
    Average score of 450 and
              Minimum of 410
    All three scores required in order to receive the GED diploma

ACCEPTABLE IDENTIFICATION**

  • Current Driver's License
  • Certified Copy of Birth Certificate
  • Social Security Card
  • Vallid Passport
  • Military I.D.
  • Current College I.D.
  • Other Forms of Government-Issued I.D. that includes Name, Birthdate, Signature & Photo

UNACCEPTABLE IDENTIFICATION

 

  • Credit cards (with photo, may be used as secondary ID)
  • Bank cards (with photo, may be used as secondary ID)
  • Letters from foreign government consulates
  • Check cashing ID cards
  • High school student ID (with photo, may be used as secondary ID)
  • Workplace ID (with photo, may be used as secondary ID)
  • Tourist cards
  • Costco/Sams Club cards
  • Library cards
  • Insurance cards

**ATTENTION!

     Outdated identification or identification suspected of being forged will not be accepted. Identification suspected of being forged will be reported to the authorities.

     When a GED examiner has reasonable doubts concerning the validity of a candidate's identification, they have the right to question that candidate and to withhold the candidate's admission and testing until such time as any questions have been answered and doubts resolved.
