Testing Schedule

August 24 through December 18, 2009

The Maricopa Community Colleges use Placement Testing (ASSET, ACCUPLACER, or CELSA) to assist students and advisors in determining initial course placement in English, Reading and Mathematics courses. Placement testing is required for all students new to college, for students without a high school dipolma or GED who are seeking finaicial aid, and for students pursuing a degree. Placement testing is free.*

The Nurse Entrance Test (NET) is required for admission into Practical Nurse and Registered Nurse programs. The fee for NET testing is $25.* Students who do not pass NET are allowed to retest after a 60 day remediation period, for a maximum of 3 attempts per year.

Students attending other colleges or universities may request to have a test proctored at EMCC with proper protocol and scheduling. The cost for proctored exams is $25* per EMCC semester.

The General Education Development Test (GED) is administered at the times indicated below. The fee for GED testing is $75*; retake tests are $15 per test. Pre-registration at least one day prior to the testing date is requred for GED testing.

  • Full ASSET and/or ACCUPLACER assessment will cover English, Reading, and Math and take 1½ - 2 hours.
  • Partial Assessments - one or two of the three tests will take approximately 25 minutes – 1 hour per test.
  • Students who are taking ASSET or ACCUPLACER for Ability to Benefit (to qualify for Financial Aid) must take
    all three tests (English, Reading and Basic Math) ON THE SAME DAY.
  • Only ONE retest per subject PER YEAR allowed within the Maricopa Community Colleges.
  • CELSA (English as a Second Language test) timed at 45 minutes.
  • Testing Office closed for observed campus holidays and additional dates as needed.
