Assessment & Testing Schedule

The Maricopa Community Colleges use assessment testing to assist students and advisors in determining the appropriate college level course, which will most benefit the student. Students are initially placed in English, Reading and Mathematics courses based upon their scores on the ASSET, ACCUPLACER, or CELSA placement tests.  There is no fee for the placement test.  Students are required to be admitted to the college prior to testing.

The General Education Development (GED) test is administered at times indicated below. The entire GED test, consisting of 5 tests, costs $65.00; retake tests are $10.00 per test*.  Please see the GED web page for more information.

Proctored exams may be taken at EMCC for a fee.  Please contact the testing office @ 623-935-8860 for further information or to schedule an exam.  Proctored exams follow the placement testing schedule.

Valid photo ID is required at the time of testing

Testing is closed for observed campus holidays and additional dates as needed.  For more information and closure dates, contact the testing office @ 623-935-8860

• Full ASSET and/or ACCUPLACER assessment will cover English, Reading, and Math and take 1½ - 2 hours.
  
• Partial Assessments - one or two of the three tests will take approximately 25 minutes – 1 hour per test.
  
• Students who are taking ASSET or ACCUPLACER for Ability to Benefit (to qualify for Financial Aid) must take all three tests (English, Reading and Basic Math) ON THE SAME DAY.
  
• Only ONE retest per subject PER YEAR allowed within the Maricopa College district.
  
• CELSA (English as a Second Language test) timed at 45 minutes
