In spring 2005, the Maricopa Community Colleges Governing Board contracted with Arizona Land Advisors (ALA) to complete a land purchase of approximately 80 acres in Buckeye, Arizona. Located approximately 22 miles from EMCC, the land purchase will serve as a future campus site and allow the college to meet the needs of a growing West Valley community. Land boundaries include: El Mirage Road, Northern Avenue alignments, the county line, and the Sun Valley Parkway alignment.
In fall of 2011, EMCC opened its Buckeye Educational Center in the historic, newly renovated Buckeye Union High School Building located at 902 East Eason Avenue in downtown Buckeye. The Center was transformed into a mini college campus with six state-of-the-art classrooms and a student services office for enrollment and registration, academic advisement, financial aid, testing, tutoring, and more.
The Buckeye Educational Center continues Estrella Mountain’s lifelong partnership with the Town of Buckeye and its community, bringing affordable, quality education to Southwest Valley residents for 20 years.
