At EMCC, assessment is integrated into the College's main operations and processes - placing learning at the center of decision-making. Both Learning and Student Affairs divisions have expanded their role in assessment to providing students with a positive experience both in and out of the classroom.
Out-of-class assessment has taken form in several ways over the past several years. Some ways EMCC has integrated assessment into their practices include measuring:
- Student perceptions of the value of event information on their overall success
- Service area outcomes and the impact department processes have on enrolling and retaining students
- Measuring student learning in specific department processes including mock interviewing and resume writing
While these are only a few examples, the College continues to expand assessment practices to embody the Learning College Philosophy. The data from these assessments are then infused into program reviews to make continuous departmental improvement.
