As a task force dedicated to social justice on a campus that supports equity and diversity, the Estrella Mountain Community College Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Task Force Committee is committed to sustaining an environment where students, employees, and our community can thrive. We support the rights of DREAMers (Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors) as well as DACA students (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) to access higher education opportunities and attain their college degree or workforce certification. We support and stand with EMCC students of color, LGBTQ students, international students, immigrant students, DACA students, DREAMers and students of different faiths. Further, we wholeheartedly support equitable opportunities for success in the attainment of a college degree or certificate. We support equitable access to higher education for all students. We encourage employees and students alike to stand together for a peaceful and equitable campus where mutual respect is at the core of the learning process.
Overall, as a committee, we aim to address issues of diversity, inclusion, equity, and engagement on campus whether that is through our hiring and evaluation processes, student engagement/learning, events/initiatives, and/or campus interactions as a whole. We strive to work with all members of our campus community and ideally will engage the wider community as well.
