Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: What does it mean for EMCC?

Diversity means cultivating a wide representation of people, ideas, processes, and experiences. It refers to individual and group experiences, values, beliefs, and characteristics, including the multiple intersections of social and cultural markers that make us unique and distinct, acknowledging and valuing each person and group.

Equity ensures the guarantee of fair treatment, access to resources, opportunity, and advancement of all students and employees. Equity occurs through an intentional examination, identification, and elimination of barriers that prevent the full participation and success of some groups in order to meet the individual needs, interests and success of all students, employees, and the community.

Inclusion creates conditions that foster belonging and value for all members of our community through the intentional and continuous effort to create environments where individuals and groups are welcomed, recognized, respected, supported, and celebrated. An inclusive environment embraces differences and offers respect in words and action for all people.
