Information Literacy

EMCC's Definition of Information Literacy

Students will be able to find, retrieve, analyze, and use information.

History of Assessment of Information Literacy

Information Literacy was assessed in the Spring 2011 semester, reassessed in Spring 2014.  See the attached reports for details on Spring 2014.  A pilot was implemented to test a new rubric and intervention tool.  Therefore, minimal participation with sample data to be attached soon.  The rubric was then updated again in Spring 2019 to have consistency with each rubric (0-4 points scale).

Future of Assessment of Information Literacy

Due to the pilot of assessing Communication (oral/written) and Critical Thinking in Fall 2019 and Spring 2020, all other abilities have been put on hold.  The goal is to bring back all General Education Abilities in Spring 2020.
