Graduation 2020 Update

Letter from the EMCC President

Dear Class of 2020 Graduate,

Congratulations on achieving your education goals. Although COVID-19 restrictions will prevent us from holding Estrella Mountain Community College’s (EMCC) in-person graduation ceremony in May, we will absolutely celebrate our graduates and all your accomplishments!

We have gathered input from 2020 graduates and EMCC employees, and we are pleased to share our Graduation 2020 plans.

  • Refunds are automatically being processed for those who paid the $25 fee to participate in the May 8, 2020 in-person ceremony.
  • Diplomas for your earned degree(s) and certificate(s) will be mailed to the address in your Student Center by approximately August 1, 2020. All financial obligations to EMCC  must be cleared before we can release your degree and/or certificate and transcript. Log in to my.maricopa.edu to update your address and check your student email for updates.
  • We are working on additional ways to celebrate our graduates virtually. Once those details are finalized, we’ll share the information with you via email, on our website, and on social media channels.

No one could have envisioned a semester in the midst of a pandemic. However, we are so proud of how EMCC students have stepped up to the various challenges of being students while also juggling working remotely, crisis homeschooling children, searching for employment, juggling finances, staying connected with family and friends from a distance, and a long list of other responsibilities.

Thank you for your patience and the grace you have shown your professors, various staff you have interacted with remotely, and most importantly with each other. We ask for your continued patience as we finalize our plans to honor your graduation milestone.

We are always here to help, and on behalf of the entire EMCC family, we are so very proud of you.  Students have many choices when selecting a college, and we are deeply honored that you chose us to be a part of your educational journey.

Warmest regards,

Rey Rivera, Ed.D.
