October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month and Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC) is excited to partner with Glendale Community College (GCC) to host a virtual workshop titled “Cybersecurity Inquiry for Students and Teachers” from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 22.

The free event, which is held in conjunction with the North American Cyber Range Alliance, is geared toward high school students in grades nine through 12 and K-12 teachers, administrators, and staff. Attendees will gain exposure to cybersecurity tools and careers through a combination of presentations, Q&A sessions, laboratory exercises, and the sharing of resources.

Students are invited to attend the morning session from 9 to 11 a.m. for a program overview and virtual lab demonstrations. Teachers, administrators, and staff are invited to both the morning and afternoon sessions. During the afternoon session, teachers and administrators will be introduced to a free resource that can be used to build or enhance a cybersecurity program, and they will learn about an exciting opportunity for select secondary education teachers.

Did you know that you can go to EMCC and earn college credits while you’re still in high school? EMCC offers high school students several different pathways to begin their journey into higher education, including dual enrollment and through the Achieving a College Education (ACE) and Hoop of Learning programs, both of which provide students with scholarships to cover their tuition. The deadline to apply for both programs is Dec. 15.
