The Elementary Education program at EMCC provides students with the practical and technical skills and training that lead to a rewarding teaching career for grades 1 through 8. Successful students will receive an Associate of Arts in Elementary Education (AAEE).
An elementary classroom teacher is responsible for teaching all content areas: reading, language arts, math, science and social studies. The AAEE is also appropriate for those who wish to work as instructional assistants in Arizona’s public schools.
Education courses offered at EMCC provide a strong foundation for a career in teaching and include field experiences and a practicum to provide students with real-world classroom experiences.
When you enroll in an Teacher Education program, you become part of the Teacher Education Institute at EMCC, which helps students succeed by offering educational networks, scholarships, internships and other professional opportunities within their selected field of study.

Special requirements: Teacher education students must possess a valid IVP fingerprint clearance card in order to be placed in an internship/ field experience. The card must be in the student’s possession when participating in the internship/field experience at a public school. Learn more.
