General Admission Requirements
- 17.5 years of age (minimum)
- High School diploma or GED
- Meet the minimum score on the Placement Tests in math and reading
- Complete admission packet (includes options for funding your education)
FOLLOW THESE STEPS:
STEP 1: SET UP YOUR ONLINE STUDENT CENTER
This can be done online anytime from anywhere! Go to my.maricopa.edu and click on New Student? Start Here. (Already a Maricopa County Community College District student, click on Student Center.) Follow instructions provided to obtain your Maricopa Enterprise ID (MEID) and password. (New students who do not wish to use their social security number must complete a Student Information Form through Enrollment Services in person or via phone at 623-935-8888 to receive a confirmation number for online set up).
Locate Student ID Number
This number is different from your MEID.
- In the Student Center, under Personal Information, click on Demographic Data.
- Make a note of the Student ID number which will be needed for all campus services.
Activate Your Official Maricopa Student Email Account
In your Student Center, click on the Official Student E-mail button.
- Enter your MEID.
- Enter your Password.
- Click Login.
All official college communications will be sent to your official student e-mail.
STEP 2: TAKE THE PLACEMENT TEST
To help you to be successful in college from the start, placement testing is required of all new students. Bring an official Photo ID and your college student ID number to your testing session. Please allow 1.5-2 hours to complete all tests. Placement testing at EMCC is FREE. For times and days to test, and access to practice tests, go to Testing Services.
STEP 3: ATTEND INFORMATION SESSION
An Information Session is held every Thursday in the SouthWest Skill Center to help students understand and complete the admission packet. Call 623-535-2700 today to reserve your seat for the next session. If you would like to get a head start on your admission requirements, you can download a packet now. Just continue to follow the Steps for Admission and bring your packet to the Information Session. At the Information Session staff will guide you on how to complete the forms and answer any questions you may have about your SouthWest Skill Center program.
