Accomplishments 2014-2015

  • Hosted Campus Sustainability Day (October 22, 2014)
  • Awarded the Arizona Recycling Coalition's 'School of the Year' recycling award (October 2014)
  • Sustainability Team won EMCC Innovation of the Year for Burrowing Owls Project (March 2015)
  • Expanded Burrowing Owl habitats, including active release (March-April 2015)
  • Hosted Earth Week 2015 (April 2015)
  • EMCC Environmental Club students participated in first annual field trip to Tonto Creek Environmental Camp (April 2015)
  • Re-hired fourth and fifth student Sustainability Interns, Ciara Garcia and Krystina Blackwell.

  • Approved Recycling Coordinator position (temporary) dedicated to campus recycling (February 2012)
  • The EMCC Sustainability Team raised $400 for a sustainability scholarship through the 2012 Estrella Rotary Foundation "Car Raffle" Scholarship Fundraiser (April 2012)
  • Hired second student Sustainability Intern, Katie Cloud.
