The president of Estrella Mountain Community College, Dr. Rey Rivera, has announced a national search for the college’s Vice President of Academic Affairs (VPAA) is underway. He has invited all highly qualified individuals to apply. The College is seeking a visionary leader with a record of excellence and innovation. The new VPAA will be knowledgeable of current best practices, possess excellent organizational skills, and be adept at interpersonal and communication skills. About the Position

The Vice President of Academic Affairs (VPAA) serves as the Chief Academic Officer by leading, planning, organizing, and administering the academic and occupational instructional programs and related support activities that serve the needs of the diverse student body, the community, and local industry. The VPAA  provides oversight of institutional and specialized accreditation, coordinates curriculum development, assures compliance with external agencies, and promotes innovative approaches to teaching and learning. About Estrella Mountain Community College

Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC) is one of 10 colleges in the Maricopa Community Colleges (MCCCD), and is the newest in the district. MCCCD is one of the largest and oldest community college districts in the United States.

Since opening in 1992, EMCC has worked to create a “sense of place” that expresses the historical and cultural values of the surrounding communities, while providing students with meaningful and engaging learning environments. Located in the fastest-growing region of the county, Estrella Mountain enrolls approximately 15,000 students annually and is master planned to be a large comprehensive learning college of more than 40,000 students.

EMCC Buckeye Education Center opened in 2011 and is located in the heart of downtown Buckeye, near Buckeye Union High School. The full-service campus brings college education to the expanding Southwest Valley and provides convenient access to a variety of degree-tracked, job-training, and community education courses. 

EMCC @ West-MEC Southwest Campus is located in Buckeye, south of Interstate 10 at Verrado Way. Guided by major industry partners, the primary goal is to strengthen the talent pipeline by providing students with career pathways into the energy and manufacturing industries. The campus serves as a technical training facility designed to provide students with hands-on learning opportunities that prepare them for the workforce.
