CLEP Testing

The College Level Examination Program (CLEP) provides credit-by-exam options. The tests assess college-level knowledge and provide a mechanism for earning college credits without taking college courses. A minimum qualifying score is necessary and each institution awards credits to students based upon the test score.

CLEP Credits Accepted at Maricopa Community Colleges

To take a CLEP exam:

  1. Check the AZTransfer Exam Equivalency Guide to see how your CLEP credits will transfer to the college you plan to attend.
  2. Register and pay for your CLEP tests on the CLEP website and print your Exam Registration Ticket.
  3. Schedule your CLEP test appointment: Test Appointments.
  4. Before your test appointment, pay the $35 proctoring fee to EMCC Student Business Services by calling 623-935-8888, option 2.  Military personnel taking the CLEP through DANTES do not pay the proctoring fee.  Bring your receipt, your CLEP Registration Ticket, and a state-issued photo ID on test day.

Important! You must send an official score report from College Board to the college(s) where you want to receive credit for CLEP testing. Colleges will not grant credit without the official score transcript.
