What is Concurrent Enrollment?
Concurrent Enrollment for Under 18 Students at Estrella Mountain Community College provides a unique opportunity for motivated individuals eager to kickstart their college education while still in high school. It's an ideal option for those looking to expand their knowledge, enhance their academic standing, and seamlessly transition into higher education.
This program is tailored for students under 18 years of age who haven't yet completed high school or attained a GED.
Required Documentation
Students under the age of 18 who have not graduated from high school or earned a GED must submit the Under 18 Enrollment Request Form at least one (1) week prior to the beginning of the requested course and one of the following documents:
- Unofficial high school transcript with an unweighted high school GPA of 2.0 or greater (juniors and seniors only)
- College EdReady Reading assessment with a recommended score of 75 or higher
- ACT Aspire Test Overall Score Report of Ready or Exceeding
- ACT, PSAT, or SAT Score Report
- A composite score of 12 or more on the American College Test (ACT)
- Composite score of 720 or more on the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT)
- Composite score of 720 or more on the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT)
Homeschool Students Only:
Per State law, homeschool students are exempt from submitting an unofficial high school transcript or ACT Aspire, ACT, PSAT, or SAT score report. However, homeschool students will be required to take the College EdReady Reading assessment with a recommended score of 75 or higher to demonstrate college readiness for admissions and must meet individual course placement requirements.
Before You Start:
Identify the courses you want to take. Some courses may require placement tests (EdReady or Accuplacer).
Concurrent Enrollment for Under 18 Students Admissions Steps
If you are a returning concurrent enrollment student, please start from step 3.
- Submit your online application. Complete the High School Application form.
- Note your MEID, Maricopa Email, and Student Number.
Log in to your Student Center using your Maricopa email and password.
- Click the Student Forms tile, then select the High School Dual Enrollment tile.
- Complete and submit the following forms:
- ID Authentication Form—Upload your identification documents (required only for first-time Concurrent Enrollment students).
- Under-18 and FERPA Release Form—If you're under 18 and a first-time Concurrent enrollment student, your parent or legal guardian must complete a portion of this form.
- EdReady is a free online service we provide that determines your skill levels in English, math, and reading.
- For information about additional course placement testing options, including Accuplacer, contact your academic advisor.
Fill the form out with your parent or legal guardian and submit it at least one (1) week prior to the beginning of your requested course.
- Students 13 and younger are required to attend a Pre-Enrollment Parent Meeting prior to registration to discuss college expectations.
- Students 13 and younger are limited to a maximum of 6 credits per semester across all 10 colleges.
- Pre-Enrollment Parent Meeting must include: AA Dean (or designee), A&R Director (or designee), the student, and their parent/legal guardian.
