ESTRELLA MOUNTAIN COMMUNITY COLLEGE
Estrella Mountain Community College, located at 3000 North Dysart Road in Avondale, Arizona, was established in 1992 and is the newest of the ten Maricopa Community Colleges. With community input and adherence to sustainability, the campus was created to be a proud exhibit of contemporary architecture among a responsibly planned desert landscape that enhances the campus beauty.
Occupying 135 acres in the southwest valley of Phoenix, the campus is conveniently accessible off of Interstate 10 (west of Phoenix and Loop 101), 15 minutes west of downtown Phoenix, at the intersection of Dysart and Thomas Roads. EMCC’s service areas are identified as Avondale, Buckeye, El Mirage, Gila Bend, Goodyear, Luke A.F.B., Litchfield Park, Surprise, Tolleson and West Phoenix (west of 67th Avenue and south of Camelback), but draw students and visitors from across the valley.
Buckeye Educational Center
The Estrella Mountain Community College Buckeye Educational Center opened in the fall of 2011 to provide convenient access to college education and workforce development classes for the residents of the Town of Buckeye and its surrounding communities including Tonopah, Gila Bend, Harquahala Valley, Palo Verde and Rainbow Valley. The “campus” is located on 902 East Eason Avenue in Buckeye, Arizona in the nationally registered historic and newly renovated Buckeye Union High School building.
The center consists of six contemporary classrooms with Level III technology (wireless computers for each student plus instructor computer and projector), administrative space for faculty and staff and full service student service areas for advisement, enrollment, financial aid, counseling and tutoring. Artistic courtyards provide small, intimate settings for studying and socializing.
