Have you been thinking about going to college but haven’t hit the gas yet? Then put the pedal to the metal and sprint over to Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC) on June 13 or July 11 (both Saturdays) for the sixth annual Rev Up for Registration event! From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on both days, our entire pit crew will be on site to help you navigate past any rumblestrips or hairpin turns you think could be holding you back from the higher education starting line.
“We will have a full team on site to help you enroll at EMCC, choose your classes, explore your financial aid options, and so much more,” said Jennifer Armour, Director, Outreach and Early College.
Indeed, the team roster will be full during Rev Up, with the following departments in attendance: Academic Advising, Admissions and Records, Career & Transfer Center, Disability Resources and Services, Financial Aid, Honors Program, Outreach & Recruitment, Registration, Student Business Services, Student Life, Testing, and Veterans Services.
“This is an event where a recent high school graduate or someone who has never attended college or hasn’t attended college in a while can get everything done in one day and be ready to start in the fall. They will even leave with their college ID,” Armour said. “But the event is also geared toward current students who still have a few loose ends they need to wrap up before the fall semester begins.”
Take a lap through the Komatke Enrollment Center, and in addition to enrolling and registering for the fall, you can also learn about all the great resources available to you as an Estrella Mountain Lion — resources such as free tutoring, counseling, and access to a loaner laptop for the semester. You can find out about our Honors Program and see if you qualify for the Presidents’ Honors Scholarship or the Honors Achievement Award Scholarship. Thinking you will eventually want a bachelor’s degree? You can explore our university transfer programs.
If you’re a veteran, military member, or dependent, make a pit stop at the Veterans Services Center in Agave Hall, and we’ll help you register for classes, find scholarship opportunities, explore degree options, and access and use your VA education benefits, military tuition assistance, MyCAA Program for military spouses, and tuition deferment.
But don’t blow past Student Life — they will be in Agave Hall handing out free pizza and popsicles (RSVP for RevUp so we can make sure we order enough!). After refueling, take a moment to learn about our student clubs, athletics, and other opportunities to get involved and engaged while at EMCC.
The event will also feature cool giveaways and the chance to win a scholarship, and a NASCAR pace car will be on site for fun photo ops. Estrella Mountain Community College is at 3000 N. Dysart Road, Avondale.
