National Disability Employment Awareness Month

Why We Celebrate

National Disability Employment Awareness Month is celebrated every October to recognize the positive impact of people with disabilities in the American workforce. Recognized in 1945 for the employment of people with physical disabilities, 1962 for all disabilities, and finally in 1988 as a full awareness month. We celebrate National Disability Employment Awareness Month to honor the contributions of people with disabilities whose skills, talents and hard work have helped strengthen the United States' workforce.
