Why We Celebrate
LGBTQIA+ Pride month is celebrated annually throughout the month of June to commemorate the 1969 June Stonewall Uprising in New York City, a defining event in the fight for equal rights for the LGBTQIA+ community within the United States. Pride month honors the history and achievements of the community and recognizes the courage of those who fought and continue to stand up against discrimination. It is also a time to support equal rights and to celebrate love, diversity in all forms.
