President Rey Rivera, invites inquiries, nominations, and applications for the next Vice President of Academic Affairs for Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC). The Vice President of Academic Affairs (VPAA) is the chief academic officer of the college. Reporting to the President, the Vice President will work closely with Faculty Senate cabinet officers, Deans, and Department Chairs. The VPAA will join a committed team of senior executives led by a visionary President and supported by excellent faculty and staff, many of whom have been at EMCC for a number of years. The VPAA will promote academic quality and excellence, partner with Student Affairs to support students holistically, and support faculty in the development of new and innovative academic and CTL programs to meet the needs of the communities EMCC serves.

  • November 16, 2023 - Recruitment and Application Process Begins: Position Profile posted to ACCT’s and the College’s webpage; state-wide and national one-to-one recruitment process commences; national advertisements placed.
  • January 16, 2024 - Target Date for Applications (open until filled)
  • February 15 - 16, 2024 - Search Committee Interviews: Confidential interviews with semifinalists (virtual interviews).
  • Week of March 4, 2024 - Finalist Interviews: Final candidates’ interview, tour campus, participate in open forums, meet with direct reports; week concludes with President deliberation; President selects first-choice candidate.
  • Week of April 1, 2024 - President announces the next Vice President of Academic Affairs of Estrella Mountain Community College.
  • July 1, 2024 -  Anticipated approximate start date for next Vice President of Academic Affairs of Estrella Mountain Community College.
