Beyond the Classroom
Estrella Mountain Community College offers a variety of educational opportunities for students to expand their learning experiences beyond those that they acquire in the classroom. These opportunities engage our students and enrich their college experience, helping to prepare all learners to achieve their dreams and transform their lives. Discover the Juried Student Art Show, Mariposa Literary Review, the Student Conference, and more.
The Juried Student Art Show allows students to submit artwork for possible selection in a featured campus art exhibition with the potential to be considered for a district-wide art competition.
The Lion's Perspective is EMCC's new online student magazine, written by students for the campus and community! The Lion's Perspective features articles and profiles on a variety of topics within section areas that were created with the input of students and staff to best represent the EMCC community.
Estrella Mountain publishes the annual Mariposa Literary Review, which features creative writing, non-fiction, poetry, and visual art from a variety of disciplines across campus.
Estrella Mountain is the host of the annual Maricopa Community College District Student Conference each spring. Students collaborate with faculty mentors to present their academic work and research on a variety of topics under the theme "Knowledge Is Power." The purpose of this conference is to provide students with the experience of presenting their own work in a formal conference environment, demonstrating the broad themes of research, innovation or creativity.
