As Julia Child once said, “No one is born a great cook; one learns by doing.” The Culinary Arts program can help you learn by doing—no matter your prior experience—sharpening your skills and preparing you for a career as a cook, pastry or restaurant chef, baker, or caterer.
College Description
At Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC), you’ll gain hands-on experience in professional kitchens while learning culinary techniques, baking and pastry skills, and the fundamentals of foodservice operations. Guided by experienced chef instructors, you’ll build practical skills and creativity that can help you succeed in the fast-paced food industry.
Through a combination of classroom instruction and real-world lab experiences, you’ll explore cuisines, baking techniques, and food service management while strengthening teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills that are essential in the fast-paced culinary industry.

Students at any Maricopa Community College may need to complete courses at more than one of our colleges.
