The Honors Program at EMCC enhances the academic experiences of students through intellectual challenges that promote critical thinking, effective communication, integrity and preparing for future success both academically and professionally. Additionally, the Honors Program provides a funding opportunity for students to help defray the cost of attending college.

In the Honors Program, students complete in-depth academic research for classes and projects, take cohort classes with other like-minded Honors students, and attend enriching and thought-provoking lectures and co-curricular activities designed to broaden the student experience and understanding.

There are three kinds of Honors students (1) recent high school grads who meet the eligibility requirements are Presidents’ Scholars; (2)  Honors Achievement Award scholars are existing or returning students; and (3) Clarion Award scholars are non-funded students like DACA or ACE students.
